Wow! Here I am working in my hometown on 96.3 Star Country, a station packed with great music, an awesome staff and cool listeners. I love it!
I graduated from Verona High School, went to UW-Madison where I also marched in the UW Band, and then stumbled into radio.
I live in a terrific 1940's cottage-style home on the near westside of Madison. In my free time I love to bike, boat, kayak, cook, travel, read and spend time with friends and family.
It would be great to hear from you! markvanallen@clearchannel.com

kenseth wins DAYTONA 500
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — The rain finally fell on Daytona, then it took another 20minutes for the real downpour.
Matt Kenseth, the quiet, unassuming former NASCAR Cup champion who had never been in contention at the Daytona 500, cried as he celebrated the biggest victory of his career in Sunday's rain-shortened running of The Great American Race.
You'll often find me spending my free time downtown. Here are a few events you may want to check out to get you out of that "winter funk":
Dane County Farmers Market One of the area's favorite traditions moves indoors for the winter season. From January 10 through April 11, the market is held inside the Madison Senior Center every Saturday from 8am until noon. You can still purchase the best of Wisconsin's agricultural products direct from producers.
Tunes at Monona Terrace This Wednesday enjoy an evening of dancing and great music with friends ... all at no charge! Tunes at Monona Terrace has become a Madison tradition, and this week you can dance to the music of the Dang-its! Themed menu specials, snacks, beer, cocktails, and soft drinks are available for purchase beginning at 5 pm.

If you're stressed out because you peeked at your 401k statement, the movie theater is always a great place to go to escape from the stress of the day:
In Fired Up (rated PG-13), Election's Nicholas D'Agosto portrays Shawn Colfax, a high school football star who is dreading yet another upcoming football camp. He devises a plan with teammate Nick Brady (Eric Christian Olsen) to have a more relaxing and rewarding summer at cheer camp instead, and the attractive coeds everywhere certainly sweeten the deal. However, Carly (Disturbia's Sarah Roemer), who is one of their classmates at the camp, catches wind of the scheme. Shawn, meanwhile, catches a romantic buzz whenever he's around her.
In the all-star He's Just Not That Into You (rated PG-13), based upon the best-selling book of the same name, the complicated relationships of young adults with unbalanced interest in each other fuel the plot. Gigi, played by Big Love's Ginnifer Goodwin, is having a hard time knowing how to gauge the interest level of a potential mate. She seeks guidance from bar manager Alex, portrayed by Justin Long. The tangled web of mismatched relationships also ensnares Janine (Jennifer Connelly) and husband Ben (Bradley Cooper), whose wandering eye is fixated on aspiring singer Anna (Scarlett Johansson). Anna enjoys the flirtation because boyfriend Connor (Kevin Connolly) isn't interesting her. Finally, Neil (Ben Affleck) and Beth (Jennifer Aniston) are breaking up because he refuses to marry her.
