This is one of my personal favorite Pic's of the past year. I gave up my backstage pass so my daughter Steph could meet her imaginary big sister!

Regardless of how you feel about NSA leaker, Edward Snowden, he has been the spark to start national discussion on how we all feel about government surveillance.
The Wall Street Journel today is reporting that some of the tactics available to the FBI and other government agencies to investigate individuals include using technologies such as hacking remotely into a suspects cell phone and activating the microphone to record conversations.
Additionally with existing technology, microphones on laptop computers can be engaged remotely, allowing others to listen completely undetected.
Now, I don't have anything to hide but reading this story got me thinking that through our phones alone, we can be located precisely to the square foot we are standing in AND we are subject to being listened to without any awareness whatsoever!! Wow!! Right?
Like I said. I have nothing to hide. Or do I? That all depends on who's listening?
Could be competitors looking for trade secrets in a company, could be marketers looking for ways to get me to purchase their product?. Could be negotiators looking to hear financial discussions?
Use your imagination and think about in what ways others might be interested in hearing your 'private' conversations. Suddenly, we all probably have something that we don't want particular people being able to tap into surreptitiously. That's why they are called PRIVATE conversations!
Not only should we be aware that government agencies have the capabilities, anyone else with a little computer savvy could too!
I see a booming business coming selling 'cones of silence' to store your phone in so you can avoid unknown people from hearing conversations and covers to put on computer cams to keep any Tom, Dick or Harry from watching you whenever, wherever in private moments.
George Orwell sure was ahead of his time! -mj
